BACK to comments Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 04:57 Not much to say, except I applaud you all for fighting this abuse of power and oppression of people's rights. Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 07:52 Is the government tying to infect the whole country to pay back the farmers for the fuel protest? Why did they stock pile sleepers & disinfectant etc in December before the first case of foot and mouth? Is a file of this disease missing from Porten down research center? Why is the TV news not giving us the full picture? Is the government turning the country into a theme park? Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 09:06 I am sorry to see both the foot and mouth epidemic and the draconian measures that beggar belief. The precuutionary principle would appear to be something to be ignored by London. Cymru am Byth from Australia Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 09:49 I do NOT support you. Something has to be done to stop the spread of FMD. I agree not everything is totally perfect but in such a major catastophe that is probably impossible. If you have VIABLE alternatives that will deal with the problem in a timely manner then please publicise them, but in the meantime the NIMBY approach does not help the nation. Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 10:43 My disgust at the management of whole FMD crisis is just magnified by this. Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 11:03 You mention the pollution of the river Braint on Anglesey. I have searched and searched for more information. I know its not directly about Epynt, but if any more news on the subject breaks through could you keep us posted please? I've seen where all the rivers in your area run from your danger area and the implications are terrifying. I live on the upper reaches of the Fowey in Cornwall, so I thank you all for your fight. If I could help you, I would Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 16:01 I think that this is crazy, and that the knock-on effects are being ignored. Rivers take a long time to recover from pollutant damage, and many animals and people will be affected by any pollution. Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 17:50 I am a school girl living near Llandovery but i am verry concerned on the way that this is going to affect our whol comunity from sennybridge and further to carmarthen and further. Epynt is only 15 mins down the road from me and is only five minuites from my school. Where they are burning there is a vally comming rite down to Llandilo and if not further. I am appauled bu the way that the prime minister thinks that just because he doozent live here that then its ok to ruin our lives. How would he like it if we went and burried all the carcases and burnt them on land that is within a mile of the burning site and the burrial. And its mot only the prime ministers its the executives if MAFF that are finding it funny to destroy our lives and im shour if some of the maff oficials had over 1000 sheep and cows and he would not be verry happy if we came along and burried ana burnt 1 mile from his farm. Many people have had to kill their annimals just because MAff want to bring foot and mouth into this NON CONTAMINATED AREA . Also they said that the lorries that they were carrying carcases were leak proof . Ive sen with my own eyes the blood and ofher decomposed bits on the road .Its not right and i am willing to do anything in my power to stap the blooy contaminated annimals out of this area and burried in a contaminated area in the first lace. Thank you Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 18:12 Please support us in our protests because as well as the overwhelming stench of rotting carcasses that greeted locals this morning, we are now threatened with our water supply being contaminated -- we have no other water supply other than bottled water, which with no money comeing into the farm we would not be able to buy if the contaminated juices enter the local water supply's. This should not be allowed. So please help us locals in our campaign. Think -how would you like it if you were in our situation? Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 18:14 This is not the only site earmarked for such in an area to date free of the disease. I will not state obvious other than a rush job for June is in hand by the Government Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 20:41 Not only do we think that this is crazy but everyone we have talked feels the same - even people with no connection with this area or with fishing Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 21:29 I think it is tragic as i live in the area and should not be done Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 21:43 Why bring infected animals to a clean area? Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 23:03 Keep up the good work. all sensible, thinking people support you. |
